The seminar provides a forum for discussion of master students’ work and an opportunity for students to share ideas and news.

Procedure:

The following deliverables are part of the evaluation of this seminar:

MTS (Master Thesis Specification) presentation: After the formal application for the master thesis at the study deans in TISS (see the faculty master thesis information page), a 10 minutes presentation of the topic of the master thesis, the problems to be solved () and the way planned to reach the goal of a finished master thesis (incl. timetable)  has to be given, followed by an discussion on possible solutions to the stated problems.

Continuing reporting:  A short status report on progress should be given at each session (3-4 slides) every month. This ensures the exchange of ideas among master students. This does not replace the individual discussions with the supervisor!

MTD (Master Thesis Defense) Presentation:  At the end of the master thesis work, a presentation (20 minutes) on the results achieved in the thesis has to be given, followed by a short content wise discussion and a discussion on the presentation itself. This is a preparation for the master thesis defense that is obligatory at the end of the study (see the faculty master thesis information page).

Admission:

In order to be admitted to the seminar you need:

  1. A master thesis topic plus an advisor (see the list of topics and advisors)
  2. Registration of the thesis in TISS (see the faculty master thesis information page)
