Supporting First Responders using Computer vision

Internship/Master Thesis/Bachelor Thesis

Status: available
Supervisors: Martin Kampel

Problem Statement

Emergency response operations are critical for ensuring public safety during disasters and emergencies. First responders (FRs) , including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers, are on the front lines of emergency situations, where they face immense risks to their health and safety.

The primary objective of the ongoing project iMARS is to establish a functionalized, robot-assisted intelligent system tailored for First Responders (FRs).

Goal

Possible research directions are listed below. One or more of these tasks can be selected within the specification of your tasks:
  • sensor study and multimodalties for first responders: comparison of sensing devices (3D, RGB, thermal, radar, WIFI, etc) and its potentials for first responders
  • Object localisation and victim localization
  • Sensor Data alignment/Registration
  • Pose Estimation/Multimodal object and human detection
  • Scene Reconstruction
